05 April 23 - How to Measure for an Inflatable Bounce House or Slide

Inflatables are a popular attraction for children's parties, carnivals, and other events. They offer hours of fun for kids and can make any event more memorable. However, before you rent or purchase an inflatable bounce house, it is essential to take accurate measurements to ensure that it fits comfortably and safely in the intended space. In this blog post, we will discuss the step-by-step process of measuring to make sure that your rented inflatable will fit as well as other safety considerations.

Step 1: Identify the Intended Space

The first step in measuring for an inflatable bounce house is to identify the intended space. Consider the location and clearance (don't forget tree branches as they are often overlooked). Assure that setup area is on a flat grass or hard surface. Sand and dirt are not good set-up options.

Step 2: Determine the Size of the Inflatable

Once you have identified the available space, the next step is to determine the size of the bounce house you need. A reputable inflatable company should have these measurements posted next to the inflatable you are considering renting. Inflatables come in a variety of sizes, ranging from small ones that can fit in a backyard to larger ones that can accommodate more children.

Step 3: Measuring the Space

Use a tape measure or ruler to obtain the length, width, and height of the area where you plan to set up the inflatable to ensure that it can fit comfortably. It is a good idea to mark out the 4 corners of this measured space, then stand back and assess if the space is conducive to a safe set-up. Is there enough room to walk around it? Stationary objects should be at least 10 feet from your inflatable.

Step 3: Examine the Path of Transport

Inflatables weight several hundred pounds and are large and very bulky. It is important to keep in mind the path the set-up crew will take. Take into consideration the distance having to travel from the delivery vehicle to the set-up location. Assess for inclines, declines, steps or anything that would be a hazard in transport. If you have a gate, make sure that the opening is 4ft wide so that the inflatable can be brought through.

Measuring an inflatable properly is crucial to ensure that it will fit in the desired location and provide a safe and enjoyable experience. By paying attention to these details, individuals can help prevent accidents, avoid damage to the inflatable or surrounding structures, and ensure that everyone can have a fun and safe time using the inflatable.
